VP of Pre-Construction/ Chief Estimator

Compensation: 200K–250K base, with bonus potential of up to 30%.

About the Role
Our client is a $90M commercial construction company in Watkinsville, GA, and it is growing. They are looking for a VP of Pre-Construction to own the entire pre-construction function and build the systems and team that will carry it through the next stage of growth. This is a senior leadership seat. You will stay close to the major bids while setting the strategy for how the company prices, pursues and wins work.
What You’ll Do
Oversee the full pre-construction function: estimating, budgeting, scheduling and bid strategy
Lead and mentor a team of 5 estimators, from senior to junior
Review and approve large and complex bids, GMPs and cost models
Develop pricing strategy and drive go/no-go decisions on pursuits
Partner with operations, project executives and leadership for smooth project handoffs
Analyze risk, constructability and value-engineering opportunities
Standardize estimating processes, templates and controls
Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors and key partners
Support business development with client presentations and pre-award strategy

What You Bring
10+ years of construction experience, including heavy civil
Proven leadership of an estimating or pre-construction team
Strong command of bidding strategy, risk analysis and margin management
Nice to have: HCSS HeavyBid and Hagtec
