OB Surgical Technologist Full-time Nights

Maintains professional accountability and technical support for provision of patient care for the OB patient's experience. Under the direction of Nursing and Medical Staff, provide a wide variety of duties related to patient care, clerical support and surgical assistance. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team and recognizes the importance of unit goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient and the success of the unit. May assist in operational support tasks including maintenance of patient records, bed control and turnover, patient registration, charge capture, ensuring adequate supplies, phlebotomy, transport of specimens, patient transport, obtain blood glucose, Birth Certificate entry, and other duties as assigned. Support the nursing team and patients by providing supportive care and assistance with ADLs to newborns, childbearing and postpartum patients, pediatric patients, and others as assigned. Maintains calm and works efficiently and effectively through obstetrical emergencies, as part of the team. May be required to take call. All duties are performed in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Position Details:
The Surgical Technologist supports the Labor & Delivery team by providing surgical assistance during cesarean sections and other obstetrical procedures. This role is responsible for preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile technique, ensuring proper instrumentation and supplies are available, and working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and anesthesia staff to deliver exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields for obstetrical procedures.
Assist physicians during cesarean sections and emergency deliveries.
Set up, organize, and manage surgical instruments and supplies.
Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures.
Ensure proper handling of specimens, instruments, and equipment.
Maintain compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.
Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures.
Collaborate with Labor & Delivery nurses, anesthesia providers, and physicians to support positive maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Respond promptly during obstetrical emergencies.
Education:
High-School Diploma or GED is required. This is a certified technologist (CST) position.
The Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program per the National Board of Surgical Technology is required. Maintain Certification without gaps. You may be asked to provide proof of education.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.
Experience:
New graduate up to experienced surgical technologist experience.
