Role Description The Vice President of Engineering is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading and scaling Cohesion’s engineering organization. This role oversees day-to-day engineering operations, including planning, prioritizing, and delivering software projects in partnership with product and design. The VP of Engineering will define and refine engineering processes, set technical direction, and ensure that architecture and implementation align with business goals. Responsibilities include mentoring and developing engineering leaders, driving hiring and performance management, and fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The role also involves working closely with company leadership to translate strategic objectives into actionable engineering roadmaps, manage technical risk, and ensure high standards of quality, security, and reliability.
Qualifications
Strong Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills, with experience building and guiding high-performing engineering teams.
Deep Software Development expertise, including modern development practices, code review, and technical decision-making.
Proficiency in Project Management, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver complex initiatives on schedule.
Experience in Product Development, collaborating closely with product, design, and business stakeholders to ship impactful features.
Background in scaling engineering organizations at a startup or high-growth company, ideally in a remote or distributed environment.
Ability to set technical strategy and define architectural standards that balance speed, reliability, and maintainability.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to align teams, manage stakeholders, and present technical topics to non-technical audiences.
Experience with modern cloud infrastructure, security best practices, and performance optimization is beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience is a plus.
