Your main focus will be building and maintaining the GIS dashboards, spatial data, and maps that track a public infrastructure rebuild program, giving program leadership, project teams, and the public a clear, current view of where every project stands.
This is a long-term, full-time, on-site position located in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards that track rebuild projects and program items for management and public audiences.
Integrate data from project management, permitting, schedule, and cost systems into a single, reliable reporting view.
Design and maintain spatial databases, including data standards, QA/QC, and update procedures, so program data stays accurate and current.
Automate data processing and refresh workflows using Python, SQL, or similar tools.
Respond to ad hoc data, mapping, and analysis requests on short timelines.
Produce clear maps, exhibits, and reports for executive briefings and community meetings.
Keep public-facing web maps and dashboards compliant with ADA/WCAG accessibility requirements.
Translate technical data into plain-language findings for program leadership, project teams, and the public.
Coordinate with project managers, schedulers, cost staff, and partner agencies to define reporting needs and data sources.
Attributes
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.
Collaborative mindset that fosters teamwork, trust, and positive relationships.
Natural curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Handles sensitive property and resident data with discretion, in line with applicable privacy requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in geographic information science, geography, data science, civil engineering, urban planning, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
10+ years of project management experience, including 5+ years of GIS analysis, spatial data management, and dashboard or data visualization development.
Proven ability to build interactive dashboards (e.g., ArcGIS Dashboards, Experience Builder, Power BI) for management and public audiences.
Experience integrating data from multiple sources, such as project management, permitting, schedule, and cost systems, into a single reporting view.
Experience designing and maintaining spatial databases, including data standards, QA/QC, and update procedures.
Track record producing maps, exhibits, and reports for executive briefings and community meetings.
Working knowledge of ADA/WCAG accessibility requirements for public-facing web content.
Advanced proficiency with Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and/or ArcGIS Enterprise, or other industry standard GIS software.
Working knowledge of Power BI, SQL, Python, or similar tools for data processing and automation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in geographic information science, geography, data science, civil engineering, or urban planning.
GIS Professional (GISP) certification.
15+ years of project management experience.
Experience supporting disaster recovery or post-disaster rebuild programs.
GIS or data experience in a public works or public agency setting.
Experience with large (>$500M), complex, heavy-civil infrastructure projects that include highways, roads, bridges, transit (including rail and bus), and/or airport projects.
