Strategy & risk assessment: Develop and drive case strategy, assess litigation risk and exposure, and advise business and leadership on potential outcomes, settlement options, and mitigation. External counsel management: Select, instruct, and manage external counsel and law firms; control legal spend, review strategy and work product, and ensure cost-effective, high-quality outcomes. Regulatory & enforcement matters: Lead responses to regulatory inquiries, investigations, notices, and enforcement proceedings; engage with regulators and authorities as appropriate. Stakeholder advisory: Partner with business teams, compliance, and cross-functional stakeholders to provide clear, practical, and actionable legal advice on contentious issues. Pre-litigation & dispute resolution: Handle pre-litigation disputes, demand/response notices, and negotiate settlements; explore and drive alternative dispute resolution where appropriate. Governance & reporting: Maintain accurate case tracking, prepare litigation reports and risk dashboards for leadership, and ensure timely escalation of material matters. Process & knowledge: Contribute to playbooks, standardization of litigation processes, and continuous improvement in how the team manages disputes at scale.
