Job Requirements
At Quest Global, it’s not just what we do but how and why we do it that makes us different. With over 25 years as an engineering services provider, we believe in the power of doing things differently to make the impossible possible. Our people are driven by the desire to make the world a better place—to make a positive difference that contributes to a brighter future. We bring together technologies and industries, alongside the contributions of diverse individuals who are empowered by an intentional workplace culture, to solve problems better and faster.
Key Responsibilities
Coordination of the end-to-end supply chain and technical requirements for electrical systems (specifically Transformers and IGBTs/Power Electronics) to meet our growing customer demands, including:
Lead global strategic sourcing activities for electrical commodities, transformer components, and IGBT-based power electronics.
Perform should-costing, cost analysis, and techno-commercial evaluations for electrical and electronic assemblies.
Drive supplier development, technical vendor negotiations, and cost optimization initiatives for critical grid components.
Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, PM, Purchase, and Operations teams for electrical design reviews, project execution, and technical documentation.
Support supplier quality activities including electrical testing validations, APQP, PPAP, NCRs, and CAPA closure for power equipment.
Identify localization, alternate sourcing, and value engineering opportunities (VAVE) for magnetic components, semiconductors, and sub-assemblies.
Monitor supplier performance, procurement KPIs, and global supply chain risks specific to semiconductor and heavy electrical supply markets.
Prepare sourcing dashboards, MIS reports, and cost-saving trackers for electrical commodity management.
Support New Product Development (NPD) for next-gen transformer designs and IGBT/inverter systems.
Scope
In Scope
Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing activities for electrical commodities, including power/distribution transformers, core & coil assemblies, bushings, tap changers, IGBT modules, heat sinks, and associated power electronic hardware.
Manage supplier identification, technical qualification, development, and performance evaluation tailored to high-reliability electrical and semiconductor manufacturing standards.
Perform should-costing, cost modeling, and detailed cost breakdown analysis (raw materials like electrical steel/copper, semiconductor pricing trends) to support commercial negotiations.
Conduct techno-commercial evaluations, reviewing electrical specifications, loss evaluations, and manufacturing capabilities to achieve quality, cost, and delivery targets.
Analyze market trends regarding raw material pricing (e.g., grain-oriented electrical steel, copper, silicon/silicon carbide wafers), electronic component shortages (allocation management for IGBTs), and global supply chain risks.
Coordinate closely with Engineering, Quality, Project Management, Planning, and Operations teams to ensure alignment on electrical schematic reviews, type testing protocols, and project delivery schedules.
Drive supplier quality improvement initiatives for electrical/electronic components through supplier audits, factory acceptance testing (FAT) alignment, NCR management, CAPA follow-up, and PPAP approval.
Support project procurement activities by monitoring lead times for long-lead electrical items (like transformer tanks, core steel, and high-power semiconductors) and tracking on-time delivery.
Lead RFQ/RFP management activities including technical package preparation, supplier communication, bid analysis, and sourcing recommendations.
Identify localization opportunities, alternate sourcing strategies, and value engineering proposals (e.g., alternative core materials, optimized inverter topology sourcing) to reduce procurement costs without compromising reliability.
Ensure supplier compliance with technical specifications (IEEE, IEC, ANSI standards), grid code requirements, and customer expectations throughout the procurement lifecycle.
Deep subject-matter expertise in transformer systems and electrical grid components, alongside semiconductor/IGBT supply chain exposure.
Prepare and maintain procurement dashboards, sourcing MIS reports, supplier scorecards, and cost-saving trackers for management review.
Support new product development (NPD), prototype sourcing, and engineering change management (ECO) for upgraded transformer and power electronics designs.
Collaborate with global stakeholders and cross-functional teams to improve procurement processes and operational efficiency.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory reduction (especially for long-lead/high-value electrical inventory), supplier reliability, and overall supply chain performance.
Action on ad hoc requests related to electrical engineering and sourcing operations.
