About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

At R1, we’re transforming how healthcare works by combining nearly two decades of revenue cycle expertise with advanced technology, including analytics, AI, intelligent automation and workflow orchestration. We pair that technology with the irreplaceable expertise of our people to help hospitals, health systems and medical groups improve financial performance, simplify administrative complexity and create better experiences for patients and providers.
All Together Better defines our culture and the way we work. We’re a diverse, global team united by a shared mission to make healthcare work better for all. Across technology, operations and support functions, our people bring deep expertise, empathy and ingenuity to the work we do. Here, collaboration fuels progress, adaptability sparks innovation and every voice can help shape what’s next for R1 and the future of healthcare.
Reporting directly to and working in close partnership with the Executive Creative Director, the Director of Brand Design will lead the visual craft and hands-on execution of R1’s most important creative work across brand identity, campaigns, executive presentations, digital experiences, events, and product storytelling.
This is a senior creative leadership role for someone with exceptional visual taste, strong conceptual thinking, and the technical ability to take a bold idea all the way to a beautifully resolved final execution.
The Director of Brand Design sits as a peer to the Director of Brand Experience. Together, these roles help shape a cohesive brand: one focused on how R1 is experienced, the other on the quality and distinctiveness of how it is expressed visually. This role leads through craft today and will grow into formal team management as the organization evolves.

Partner with brand strategy, demand generation, content, and product marketing to connect strong creative ideas with real business objectives.
Ensure assets feel connected as part of a larger campaign while respecting the needs of individual channels.

Make complex ideas easy to follow through editorial discipline, visual hierarchy, pacing, and clear composition.

Give clear, actionable feedback and maintain a rigorous quality standard through review, refinement, and delivery.
What you bring:

An exceptional portfolio of personally executed work demonstrating premium visual aesthetics, conceptual range, and unusually high attention to detail.
A sophisticated understanding of typography, composition, imagery, layout, design systems, and the decisions that make visual work feel intentional.
Ability to develop an original creative concept and independently carry it through detailed, production-ready execution.

Confidence working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners, with the ability to explain and defend thoughtful creative decisions.
Comfort working in complex B2B, enterprise, healthcare, technology, or similarly demanding environments without making the creative feel complicated.
Success looks like:
