The Technical Business Requirements Analyst serves as the business-facing liaison between manufacturing operations and Information Technology. This role translates manufacturing needs into clear, actionable, and testable requirements for the digital tools that support production, inventory, supply chain, quality, engineering, configuration management, and shipping.
The analyst also helps teams explore solutions early through wireframing, lightweight user-experience design, and AI-assisted prototyping. By making workflows and concepts visible before development, the role helps manufacturing users, IT, and engineering align on the right problem, the right interaction model, and the right technical path.
Core Responsibilities
Requirements analysis and business liaison
Partner with manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, inventory, and operations stakeholders to understand business needs and operational challenges.
Elicit, document, analyze, prioritize, and validate business, functional, technical, data, reporting, and integration requirements.
Translate operational needs into user stories, use cases, workflow diagrams, functional requirements, nonfunctional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
Document current-state and future-state processes and maintain traceability from the original business need through design, development, testing, release, and implementation.
Represent manufacturing priorities during project planning, backlog refinement, solution design, implementation, and release planning.
Wireframing and user experience definition
Create low- and medium-fidelity wireframes, screen flows, navigation concepts, and workflow prototypes for manufacturing tools.
Use wireframes to clarify roles, data entry, scan flows, approvals, exceptions, alerts, dashboards, and handoffs before development begins.
Collaborate with operators, supervisors, engineers, quality personnel, and IT to validate usability, terminology, information hierarchy, and shop-floor practicality.
Document interaction requirements, field behavior, validation rules, permissions, accessibility considerations, and responsive or device-specific needs.
Use prototypes to expose ambiguity, reduce rework, and support structured design reviews and stakeholder decisions.
AI-assisted prototyping and responsible experimentation
Use approved AI tools to rapidly generate, refine, and compare prototype concepts, sample workflows, interface copy, test scenarios, and synthetic examples.
Turn business requirements into AI-assisted clickable or interactive prototypes that help stakeholders experience proposed solutions before implementation.
Evaluate AI-generated concepts for accuracy, usability, security, privacy, export-control implications, bias, traceability, and alignment with approved requirements.
Ensure that AI-generated outputs are treated as drafts requiring human review and are not used with controlled, sensitive, proprietary, or regulated data unless explicitly authorized.
Partner with IT, cybersecurity, data governance, and business owners to establish practical guardrails for AI-supported analysis and prototyping.
Manufacturing systems and process improvement
Build working knowledge of planning and scheduling, MRP, inventory, kitting, receiving, production execution, quality, configuration management, shipping, reporting, ERP, MES, QMS, PLM, and WMS tools.
Lead or support process mapping, workflow analysis, root-cause analysis, and continuous-improvement activities.
Evaluate solutions for usability, scalability, maintainability, security, data integrity, operational risk, and cross-functional impact.
Define business rules, roles, permissions, approvals, alerts, validations, and exception-handling requirements.
Testing and implementation
Develop test scenarios, test cases, test data, acceptance criteria, and prototype-based usability test scripts.
Coordinate functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
Validate delivered functionality against approved requirements and prototypes; support defect triage and resolution.
Participate in implementation planning, cutover readiness, training, communications, go-live support, and early-production monitoring.
Communication and collaboration
Facilitate interviews, workshops, prototype reviews, demonstrations, design reviews, and decision meetings.
Explain technical concepts in clear business language and business needs in clear technical language.
Build productive relationships across manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain, IT, program management, and leadership.
Promote a culture of integrity, respect, cooperation, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, operations, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
Three or more years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, manufacturing operations, IT delivery, product ownership, UX, or a related role.
Experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and validating business and technical requirements.
Experience creating process maps, workflow diagrams, wireframes, user stories, acceptance criteria, test cases, and business documentation.
Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting ERP, MES, MRP, QMS, PLM, WMS, inventory, warehouse, or manufacturing execution systems.
Experience in aerospace, space systems, defense, advanced manufacturing, electronics, or another regulated industry.
Experience with Figma, FigJam, Miro, Balsamiq, Axure, or comparable wireframing and prototyping tools.
Experience with AI-assisted product discovery, interface prototyping, requirements analysis, or test generation.
Knowledge of configuration management, product lifecycle management, quality systems, nonconformance, corrective action, and production documentation.
Experience with SQL, data analysis, dashboards, APIs, master data, data governance, role-based access, and audit trails.
Experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
Success Measures
Manufacturing users have a trusted path for communicating system needs.
Requirements, wireframes, and prototypes are clear, complete, traceable, testable, and aligned to business outcomes.
Teams identify usability and workflow issues before development, reducing rework and implementation surprises.
Manufacturing tools improve productivity, quality, visibility, data integrity, and operational control.
AI-assisted work is useful, transparent, human-reviewed, and consistent with security, privacy, export-control, and data-governance requirements.
New capabilities are adopted successfully with appropriate training, documentation, and support.
Working Relationships
This position works closely with manufacturing and production leadership, production supervisors and operators, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, supply chain and inventory teams, program and project management, enterprise architecture, software development, IT operations, cybersecurity, data governance, and external vendors or implementation partners.
Work Environment and Compliance
The role may require regular interaction with manufacturing areas, production personnel, engineering laboratories, cleanroom or controlled environments, offices, and technical workspaces. Occasional travel, off-shift implementation activities, and support during system cutovers or production releases may be required.
This position may involve access to technical data or items subject to U.S. export-control regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. Eligibility requirements should be confirmed for the specific position and work location. Voyager’s careers page states that applicable roles may require U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected-person status, or authorization to obtain the required approvals.
