About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
We are looking for a strategic, execution-oriented Head of People Operations to build and lead People Operations delivery across our North American and LATAM markets — and to set the standard for what world-class HR operations looks like at scale.
This is a leadership role with genuine scope. You will own the full employee lifecycle across the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and beyond, building a distributed team and driving the infrastructure that allows our people engine to scale. Payroll integrity, benefits strategy, compliance across multiple regulatory environments, and the intelligent use of automation and AI are at the heart of what this role is about.
At Flix, People Operations is not a support function — it is a business-critical capability with direct ownership, real accountability, and a seat at the table where decisions get made. This role will help define what that looks like for North America and LATAM.
About the Role
Regional Leadership: Build, lead, and develop a high-performing People Operations team across the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and other LATAM markets. You set direction, develop talent, and create a culture of ownership and accountability across distance.
Payroll Ownership: Take full accountability for multi-country payroll operations across NA and LATAM — including US federal and state payroll compliance, Canadian payroll, and complex LATAM payroll environments. You ensure accuracy, timeliness, and auditability at every step, and you know how to build the vendor and internal infrastructure to support it.
Benefits Strategy & Administration: Own benefits program strategy, design, and administration for the region — including US health, dental, vision, 401(k), COBRA, and leave programs, as well as country-specific benefits across LATAM. You partner with brokers, manage renewals, and benchmark regularly to ensure Flix remains competitive.
People Operations Excellence: Drive end-to-end HR service delivery across the full employee lifecycle — onboarding, offboarding, employment changes, compliance, data integrity, and tier-1/tier-2 HR support. You own SLAs, escalation frameworks, and a culture of responsiveness and quality.
Automation & AI-Driven Operations: Lead the intelligent use of automation and AI to transform People Operations in your region. This means identifying repetitive, high-volume processes ripe for automation, evaluating and deploying HRIS/HRMS tooling, championing AI-assisted workflows, and building operational leverage that lets the team scale without headcount scaling linearly. You do not need to be an engineer — but you need to be genuinely curious and capable of driving this agenda.
Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure HR compliance across a complex, multi-jurisdiction environment — including federal and state employment law in the US, Canadian labor standards, and the regulatory environments of LATAM countries. You anticipate risk before it becomes a problem.
HQ-to-Regional Bridge: Serve as the primary interface between Flix global HQ and NA/LATAM operations. You translate global HR strategy into local execution, and you surface regional nuance — legal, cultural, operational — before it lands badly. You represent the region in global forums and ensure local needs are reflected in central decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Finance (payroll and benefits spend), Legal, IT, and People Partners to deliver integrated, seamless HR services. You help break silos and build the cross-functional trust that makes things actually get done.
About You
Experience: 8+ years in HR Operations or People Services, with at least 3–4 years in a leadership role. Significant multi-country experience across North America is required; LATAM experience is a strong differentiator.
Payroll Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of US multi-state payroll — including federal, state, and local compliance, garnishments, equity payroll events, and year-end processing. Experience with Canadian payroll and at least one LATAM market is a strong plus.
Benefits Acumen: Proven experience designing, managing, and optimizing US benefits programs — medical, dental, vision, 401(k), leave, and supplemental benefits. You know how to benchmark, negotiate, and make smart cost-quality trade-offs.
Operations Leadership: Track record of building HR operations infrastructure in fast-growing, distributed organizations. You have designed processes, selected and implemented HRIS tools (e.g. Workday, Rippling, ADP, UKG), and operationalized scalable service delivery models.
Automation & AI Mindset: Demonstrated experience applying automation and AI tools to HR workflows — whether via HRIS/HRMS automation, RPA, AI-assisted ticketing, or LLM-powered internal tools. You are proactive about identifying what can be automated and capable of leading the org through adoption.
People Leader: A coaching-first leadership style, with the ability to develop and retain talent across geographies. You build ownership, not dependency, and you know how to lead through influence as well as authority.
