Sr. Backend Engineer

As a software engineer - backend (strong product background), you will play a critical role in the design, planning, development, and deployment of software applications. You will be responsible for all aspects of development and help develop best practices for future development. You will work closely with the tech, design, and quality teams to build and launch the product.
Responsibilities:
You will code, develop, design, and architect features related to the existing application.
We expect you to own modules end-to-end and take pride in the work products you ship.
You will design, implement, test, and maintain highly scalable, multi-tier, distributed server software applications.
You will deliver across the entire app life cycle, including design, build, deploy, test, release to app stores, and support.
You will work directly with developers and product managers to conceptualise, build, test, and release products.
You will take responsibility for the performance and stability of all the applications and related infrastructure.
You will continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximise development efficiency.
Requirements:
You should have at least an undergraduate degree in computer science and engineering, preferably from IITs/top RECs.
You should have 2-6 years of experience at cutting-edge organisations or startups.
You should have expertise in Java/J2EE technology.
You should have proficiency in the implementation of algorithms and the use of advanced data structures to solve problems in computing.
You should have experience with e-business/e-commerce applications and business environments.
Any experience with internet companies or the travel industry will be a plus.
You should have a good understanding of Java/J2EE and design patterns.
You should have strong knowledge of data structures and designing for performance, scalability, and availability.
You should have expertise in relational databases like MySQL or Postgres.
You should have knowledge of MongoDB and web services.
You should have extensive use of Instruments and Shark to detect memory leaks and for performance optimisation.
You should have a good grasp of algorithms, memory management, and multithreaded programming.
You should have experience in writing unit tests and automation tests.
Having exposure to test-driven development is a plus.
You should have great people skills!
You should be able to fit in well within an informal startup environment and provide hands-on management.
You should have a high energy level and an untiring commitment to drive yourself and the team towards goals.
