Gen AI Engineer (Azure)

We are looking for an experienced Azure Generative AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade AI applications using the Microsoft Azure AI ecosystem. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, Python, agentic AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), API development, containerisation, and CI/CD. The role involves building scalable, secure, and production-ready AI solutions while adhering to Responsible AI, governance, and enterprise security best practices.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and deploy enterprise generative AI applications using Azure OpenAI and the Azure AI ecosystem.
Build AI agents and agentic AI workflows for enterprise automation and intelligent business processes.
Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using Azure AI Search, vector databases, and Large Language Models (LLMs).
Integrate AI applications with enterprise platforms through REST and GraphQL APIs.
Design scalable AI architectures leveraging Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, and Azure services.
Deploy AI applications using Docker, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure App Services, and Azure Functions.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps best practices.
Implement enterprise security using Azure Key Vault, Managed Identity, RBAC, and secure authentication mechanisms.
Monitor, optimise, and troubleshoot AI applications for scalability, performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Ensure Responsible AI, compliance, governance, privacy, and enterprise security standards are followed.
Collaborate with solution architects, data engineers, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver production-ready AI solutions.
Participate in Agile development, code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
8-12 years of IT experience with 4+ years of relevant experience in generative AI, Azure AI, or AI/ML application development.
Strong programming expertise in Python.
Hands-on experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, and Azure AI Search.
Experience building AI agents and agentic AI workflows.
Strong understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and LLM-based application development.
Experience developing and integrating REST and GraphQL APIs.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure App Services, and Azure Functions.
Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
Knowledge of enterprise cloud architecture and Azure deployment best practices.
Good understanding of Responsible AI, enterprise governance, security, and compliance.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Azure Cognitive Services and Azure Machine Learning.
Knowledge of vector databases, including Azure AI Search Vector Index, Azure Cosmos DB, or PostgreSQL (pgvector).
Experience with Databricks and enterprise AI platforms.
Familiarity with Azure Key Vault, Managed Identity, RBAC, and Microsoft Entra ID authentication.
Experience deploying production-scale AI applications in Azure cloud environments.
Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
