We are looking for a highly skilled Software Development Engineer (SDE II) with strong expertise in Python and experience building scalable payment systems and microservices. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing secure, high-performance backend services that support payment processing, transaction orchestration, reconciliation, and financial integrations.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python.
Build and enhance payment-related microservices for transaction processing, settlements, refunds, and reconciliation.
Develop RESTful APIs and event-driven services to support high-volume payment workflows.
Integrate with payment gateways, banking APIs, UPI, card networks, and third-party financial services.
Design microservices with high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability.
Optimise database performance and ensure efficient transaction management.
Implement secure authentication, authorisation, encryption, and compliance with payment security standards.
Write clean, reusable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design sessions.
Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, DevOps, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and improve application reliability and performance.
Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
3-6 years of backend software development experience.
Strong programming skills in Python.
Hands-on experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, and Django (preferred).
Strong understanding of microservices architecture.
Experience designing REST APIs and asynchronous services.
Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, and AWS SQS.
Strong knowledge of SQL databases: PostgreSQL and MySQL.
Experience with NoSQL databases: MongoDB and Redis.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Git.
Mandatory Payment Domain Experience:
Candidates should have hands-on experience with one or more of the following: Payment gateway integrations, UPI payment flows, Card payment processing, Wallet integrations, Payment authorization and capture, Refund and reversal workflows, Settlement and reconciliation systems, Transaction lifecycle management, Payment orchestration platforms, Financial ledger systems, Idempotency and distributed transaction handling, High-volume payment processing systems
Good to Have:
Experience with fintech or digital payments platforms.
Knowledge of PCI DSS, tokenisation, encryption, and payment security best practices.
Experience with distributed tracing, monitoring, and observability tools.
Exposure to Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Event-Driven Architecture.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
Familiarity with caching strategies using Redis.
Preferred Experience:
Built scalable payment microservices serving millions of transactions.
Experience handling high-throughput, low-latency backend systems.
Exposure to payment gateway providers such as Stripe, Razorpay, Adyen, PayU, or similar.
Experience working in product-based companies or fintech organisations.
