Lead Engineer - Full Stack (Mobile)

The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
Core Product and Platform Development:
Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems powering core user journeys (buy, sell, logistics, payments).
Develop and maintain high-quality mobile applications (Android / iOS / cross-platform).
Own end-to-end development from architecture to deployment and monitoring.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
Ensure high system reliability, performance, and security.
System Design and Scale:
Design systems that handle high concurrency, large datasets, and real-time operations.
Optimise database performance, queries, and data models.
Build for scale from day one while keeping systems simple.
Continuously improve system architecture and engineering standards.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
Guide and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
Help prioritise tasks and ensure high-quality execution across the team.
Set engineering standards and enforce best practices.
Act as a technical anchor for the team.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with product, design, and operations to translate requirements into robust systems.
Build internal tools and workflows that improve operational efficiency.
Collaborate with finance/logistics teams on integrations (payments, tracking, reconciliation).
Ownership and Execution:
Take full ownership of features and systems from idea to production.
Ship fast, iterate based on feedback, and improve continuously.
Debug production issues and ensure quick resolution with minimal disruption.
Engineering Excellence:
Set high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation.
Review code and mentor junior engineers.
Drive best practices across the engineering team.
Contribute to building a strong engineering culture at Circle.
Mobile Engineering:
Build intuitive, fast, and reliable mobile experiences for users.
Ensure strong app performance, responsiveness, and offline reliability.
Collaborate with engineering and design/product teams to oversee seamless UX.
Continuously improve app stability, crash rates, and release quality.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in software engineering.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong experience in the backend stack, Node.js .
Experience building and shipping mobile apps (React Native / Flutter).
Solid understanding of databases, APIs, and system design.
Experience working with production systems, deployments, and debugging.
Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
Prior experience mentoring or leading engineers is a strong plus.
