We're looking for a seasoned SDE-3 Backend Engineer to own and scale the core backend systems that power Pronto's consumer and partner platforms. You will drive architecture decisions, build high-performance distributed services, and ensure platform reliability at scale. This role requires strong ownership, architectural thinking, and the ability to collaborate closely with product, mobile, and data teams to deliver impactful features with speed and stability.
Responsibilities:
Architect, design, and build scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services.
Lead the development of APIs and microservices that power Pronto's mobile and partner applications.
Own end-to-end system design from database modeling to service orchestration.
Optimize backend performance, reduce latency, and improve system reliability.
Integrate with internal and external APIs while ensuring robust data flow and error handling.
Drive technical excellence through mentorship, code reviews, and best practices.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues with a focus on root-cause analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Mobile, Design, Operations) to ship features efficiently.
Oversee CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and observability workflows.
Requirements:
5-8 years of professional backend development experience.
Deep understanding of database design and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and message queues.
Strong knowledge of RESTful API design, microservices, and system scalability.
Hands-on experience with caching systems like Redis and search systems like Elasticsearch (if applicable).
Strong debugging skills and the ability to resolve complex production issues.
Proficient with Git, CI/CD tooling, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Good to Have:
Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar event streaming/message brokers.
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
Exposure to monitoring and performance tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, New Relic).
Understanding of scalable infrastructure and cloud-native design patterns.
Experience designing systems for high-traffic consumer apps or marketplaces.
