Lead – Server, Virtualization & Cloud Infrastructure
Purpose Of Role
Lead & own the complete lifecycle management for physical servers, virtualization (VMware & KVM), cloud (AWS), storage (HPE SAN/MSA), backup, and monitoring platforms supporting the IT Operations infrastructure. Drive strategy, modernization and vendor partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure ownership — design, deploy, operate, and optimize HPE Synergy / Blade Servers / SAN switches, HPE MSA storage, VMware & KVM virtualization, AWS cloud infrastructure, backup systems, Zabbix monitoring, rack servers.
Operations management — full server, storage, virtualization & cloud operations, incident and problem management, SLA oversight.
Lifecycle management — hardware & firmware lifecycle planning, OS and VMware lifecycle, storage expiration tracking, planning refresh/upgrade programs.
Security & compliance — server hardening, patch management, vulnerability/PT remediation, audit support.
Capacity planning — forecast compute & storage growth, cloud resource planning, virtualization capacity optimization.
Business continuity & DR — DR planning & testing, backup governance & restore validation, BC metrics reporting.
Vendor management — maintain OEM partnerships (HPE [hardware], VMware [virtualization], AWS [cloud], third party support), coordinate AMC/support contracts, manage escalations.
Strategy & roadmap — define technology roadmap, modernization initiatives, automation, infrastructure optimization, cost control.
Team leadership — mentor, train & manage team of server engineers, performance reviews, align tasks to business requirements.
Required Experience & Skills
6–12 years in enterprise server infrastructure, virtualization & cloud administration, with 3–5 years in a leadership or senior L3 role.
Proven track record with HPE Synergy/Blade, VMware vSphere (VCP), KVM, AWS (VPC, IAM, EC2), SAN technologies (HPE MSA/SAN), backup systems and Zabbix monitoring.
Expertise in lifecycle planning, capacity forecasting, and asset management.
Strong security skills: Windows/Linux hardening, patch mgmt workflows, vulnerability remediation, audit support.
Excellent vendor relationship mgmt with HPE, VMware, AWS; experience negotiating AMC contracts.
Leadership: ability to lead 5–10 engineers, manage projects, stakeholder communication and technology implementation.
