About the Role
The Regional Head – Government Banking will lead the strategic growth and management of the Government Banking portfolio in a designated region. This role involves building and nurturing relationships with senior government officials, driving business development within regulatory boundaries, and delivering customized banking solutions. The role holder will be instrumental in expanding the bank’s footprint in the government sector while ensuring compliance, risk management, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain and strengthen relationships with key bureaucrats including IAS, IRAS, IPS, and State Civil Service officials.
Spearhead business generation within dynamic regulatory frameworks and the bank’s risk appetite to grow the Government Banking Group’s portfolio.
Understand client needs, business models, and sector-specific characteristics to structure solutions that drive CASA, Term Deposits (TD), and cross-sell opportunities.
Ensure accurate and timely KYC compliance for all accounts in the mapped portfolio, with appropriate risk categorization.
Acquire high-value, high-ticket accounts through thorough due diligence and strategic engagement.
Ideate and implement strategies to diversify revenue streams and facilitate campaigns to increase customer penetration and acquire high-quality clients.
Analyse client financial reports to identify early warning signs and mitigate potential risks.
Monitor portfolio health and maintain regular touchpoints with clients to flag potential issues proactively.
Conduct credit analysis as mandated by RBI guidelines.
Leverage market intelligence to adopt best practices and stay ahead of industry trends.
Build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve critical business goals.
Secondary Responsibilities
Collaborate with internal teams including Branch Banking, Product, Treasury, Risk, Compliance, and Legal to achieve business objectives efficiently.
Develop and implement mechanisms to measure and monitor customer satisfaction and drive improvements in processes and performance.
Ensure high-quality customer service and address customer complaints promptly to maintain satisfaction and support business growth.
What We Are Looking For
Education
Graduation: Any discipline (Full-Time)
Postgraduation: MBA / PGDM (Preferred)
Experience
Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in banking or financial services, preferably with exposure to government or institutional banking within BFSI industry.
