About the Role
The role is responsible for supporting the transformation of the Retail Liability Branch Audit framework through the adoption of data analytics, offsite review mechanisms, and continuous monitoring of key branch controls. The role holder will undertake focused offsite reviews across customer onboarding, KYC, and mule-account-related controls, while contributing to initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and risk coverage of branch audits.
The role requires close collaboration with Internal Audit teams, business units, operations, compliance, technology, analytics, and other relevant stakeholders to support the end-to-end implementation of audit transformation projects and control enhancements
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
Branch Audit Transformation
Support the transformation of the branch audit methodology by identifying audit procedures and control checks that can be transitioned from onsite verification to offsite, data-driven review.
Evaluate existing branch audit procedures to identify opportunities for centralisation, automation, standardisation, and enhanced risk coverage.
Assist in developing and implementing offsite monitoring for the continuous assessment of key branch risks and controls.
Contribute to the development of risk indicators, exception reports, and data-driven triggers for identifying areas requiring targeted review.
Audit Process Improvement and Automation
Support and drive initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency, effectiveness, consistency, and coverage of branch audits.
Work with Audit Analytics and relevant technology teams to translate audit requirements into analytical tests, automated checks, dashboards, and monitoring solutions.
Participate in requirement gathering, process mapping, test design, user acceptance testing, and implementation of audit-related enhancements.
Offsite and Thematic Reviews
Undertake offsite and thematic reviews covering areas such as:
KYC and compliance with applicable customer identification requirements
Customer onboarding and account-opening processes
Mule and suspected mule-account controls
Prepare clear, factual, and well-supported review findings, highlighting the control gap, underlying cause, risk implication and required corrective action.
Support focused deep-dive reviews where offsite monitoring identifies heightened or recurring risks.
Project and Stakeholder Management
Engage with internal / external stakeholders to support audit transformation initiatives.
Coordinate requirements, dependencies, deliverables, and implementation timelines across participating teams.
Secondary Responsibilities
Capture and share best practices within the audit team.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to leverage in-house synergies.
Stay updated on global market trends and competitor strategies in key markets.
Contribute to knowledge-building initiatives and team development.
What We Are Looking For
Education
Chartered Accountant or postgraduate degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Experience
1 to 4 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following:
Retail branch banking
Internal audit
Risk, compliance or other control functions
Well versed with liability customer onboarding, KYC, AML, and branch operations.
Skills And Attributes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
Sound understanding of Retail Liability products, retail branch banking, and branch operations.
Working knowledge of customer onboarding, KYC, AML, and branch-level control processes.
