The primary focus of the Application Engineer (AE) is to drive increased usage of the product by collaborating with R&D and the Sales team in a dynamic, innovative environment. Some of the tasks include conducting competitive benchmarks and evaluations where they articulate the superiority of our customer’s design team and management. In addition, AE’s deliver customer training, tape-out support, and collaborate on initiatives for product enhancements. The job involves working closely with users/customers and multiple organizations like R&D, marketing, and sales among others.
You Are
We’re looking for an Application Engineer to join a world-class AE team responsible for driving adoption of our industry-leading physical verification solution. In this role, you will be an Applications Engineer who will play a critical role in our TSG Organization enabling the success of our customers in designing advanced chips on leading-edge process technologies. You will provide technical and engineering insight and direction to improving usability, applicability, and adoption of implementation products, platforms, and solutions to meet the customer business needs.
The candidate is expected to play an effective role in account planning, where they work as part of the account team to develop solutions to customer problems by bringing their technical understanding of the customer needs and issues. You must be effective and proactive at interacting with customer's technical staff and the first or second level management. An important aspect of this job will be to leverage your knowledge and experience of customers' design processes to Synopsys product development teams for future product/solution improvements. What You'll Be Doing
Use in-depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise and support for our top customers.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues on customer designs.
Work directly with Research and Development (R&D) to develop and implement our technical roadmap, specifications, and validation for improvements and enhancements.
Partner with customers and Sales to identify business challenges, develop effective technical solutions, and increase utilization and retention of products on current accounts.

What You'll Need
BS/MS EE, ECE, CS, CE or related discipline and 5+ years of experience.
Hands-on experience with Physical Verification & usage of tools like ICV, Calibre etc
Experience with advanced technology nodes.
Experience with signoff and physical design methodologies.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for world-class customer service.

You stay calm and focused when a customer escalation lands in your inbox two days before tapeout and you know how to triage, prioritize, and resolve it
You are comfortable pushing back on R&D when a proposed feature does not match what customers actually need, and you do it with data
You think about the customer's workflow, not just the tool in isolation, and you can see where the friction points are before they become blockers
You can present technical content to a room of engineers or to a VP of Engineering and adjust your message without losing clarity
You are organized enough to manage multiple customer engagements, internal projects, and R&D collaborations without dropping threads
