About the Role
State Street Investment Management’s Data, Analytics & AI Services (DAAIS) team is seeking a Senior Data Platform and Agentic Engineering Principal (Vice President) for our Hangzhou office. This role is responsible for the architecture, engineering delivery, and operational excellence of a modern data platform and its agentic AI capabilities that enable the investment management business. The successful candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise in data platform architecture, agentic workflow design, data AI agent implementation, agentic protocol integration (e.g., A2A, MCP), and containerized services, along with proven leadership experience within financial services.
Key Responsibilities
Lead an agile data and agentic engineering team to deliver scalable solutions that address evolving business and client needs.
Partner with global teams to execute cross-border initiatives and continuously strengthen engineering standards and best practices.
Coach and mentor engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and high performance.
Define and own the platform’s agentic architecture and implementation, including agentic workflows; agentification of platform components; data sourcing and distribution agents; and governance, registration, security, observability, and monitoring of AI agents.
Design and lead the implementation of core data platform capabilities, including ingestion and consumption patterns; workload balancing; master data management; catalog synchronization; and OLTP/OLAP integration.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
15+ years of technology experience within the financial services industry, including senior-level engineering leadership.
Hands-on experience designing and implementing multi-agent workflows, including human-in-the-loop command center patterns and/or semi-autonomous agentic workflows.
Hands-on experience designing and implementing modern, open-architecture data platforms supporting OLAP, OLTP, and near real-time workloads.
Extensive experience architecting and implementing enterprise LLMOps and agentic infrastructure pipelines, including networking, storage, security, FinOps, and capacity planning, with cloud-agnostic approaches across major public cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
Strong proficiency with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL); familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Anthropic Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex).
4+ years of experience working with unstructured data sources (e.g., sales notes, 13F filings, news, social media).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across geographies.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results with strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a direct, constructive approach.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience serving as a data platform architect within a financial institution.
Experience implementing patterns and tooling for both structured and unstructured data management.
CFA Level II completion (or equivalent certification).
