As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank technology team in Tampa, you will play a key role in designing, building, and delivering high-performance, full-stack applications that support critical banking operations and client-facing platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize systems, integrate AI-powered capabilities, and ensure the reliability and scalability of mission-critical services. Your contributions will directly impact how the firm processes transactions, manages risk, and delivers value to clients across global markets.
Job responsibilities
Design and develop scalable, full-stack applications using Java and React, ensuring high performance and maintainability across front-end and back-end layers
Build and maintain event-driven microservices and data streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka to support real-time processing at enterprise scale
Integrate AI Copilot and generative AI tooling into existing workflows to enhance developer productivity and deliver intelligent user experiences
Develop and optimize data access layers and queries across Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring data integrity and performance
Collaborate with product managers, architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust, production-ready software solutions
Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and contribute to engineering best practices and standards
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, system vulnerabilities, and technical debt across the application stack
Support deployment pipelines and contribute to continuous integration and delivery practices in an agile environment
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
Proficiency in Java for back-end development, including RESTful API design and microservices architecture
Hands-on experience with React for building responsive, component-based front-end applications
Working knowledge of Apache Kafka for event-driven architecture and real-time data streaming
Experience with relational databases, including Oracle and/or PostgreSQL, including query optimization and schema design
Demonstrated ability to work in agile, cross-functional teams and deliver software iteratively
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug and resolve complex technical issues across the full stack
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Experience integrating AI Copilot tools or generative AI capabilities into software development workflows
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices including automated testing and infrastructure as code
Knowledge of financial services domain, including trading, payments, or risk management systems
Experience with monitoring and observability tools to support production system health and performance
