Chemical Engineer – PU/PUF Process & Insulation Applications
Company Description
Technotive Engineering Private Limited is a growing engineering and contracting company delivering efficient, safe, and high-performance solutions across industrial, commercial, and infrastructure sectors. The organization provides a comprehensive range of services including industrial insulation, fabrication, civil works, electrical contracting, painting, and complete project execution.
With a strong focus on quality, technical precision, safety, and timely delivery, Technotive combines engineering expertise with disciplined project planning to provide practical and cost-effective solutions to its clients. The company is continuously strengthening its technical capabilities and expanding its expertise in industrial materials, insulation systems, process-oriented applications, and engineering solutions.
Role Description
Technotive Engineering Private Limited is seeking a Chemical Engineer for a full-time, on-site position based in Vadodara, Gujarat.
The candidate will be responsible for supporting chemical process development, formulation, production trials, process optimization, quality control, and technical evaluation of industrial insulation materials and related products.
The role particularly requires practical understanding of polyurethane (PU/PUF) foam chemistry and processing, including the handling, formulation, mixing, and processing of polyol and isocyanate-based systems to achieve consistent foam properties and product quality.
The Chemical Engineer will work closely with engineering and project teams to develop and optimize processes, troubleshoot production-related issues, evaluate raw materials, and establish reliable operating parameters for insulation-material applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize processes for PU/PUF foam production and related insulation applications.
- Understand and work with polyol and isocyanate chemical systems, including their handling, formulation, mixing requirements, reaction characteristics, and processing parameters.
- Conduct laboratory and production-scale trials to evaluate foam formation, density, dimensional stability, adhesion, curing, thermal performance, and other relevant properties.
- Establish and maintain suitable mixing ratios, processing temperatures, reaction times, equipment parameters, and operating conditions.
- Troubleshoot issues such as inconsistent foam density, poor cell structure, incomplete reaction, dimensional instability, adhesion problems, curing variations, and other process abnormalities.
- Evaluate incoming raw materials and their effect on final product performance.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, process sheets, batch records, quality parameters, test procedures, and technical documentation.
- Work with production and engineering teams to improve process efficiency, consistency, yield, and product quality.
- Support the selection and evaluation of process equipment, mixing systems, dispensing equipment, and other production-related machinery.
- Coordinate with chemical suppliers and vendors regarding raw materials, technical specifications, testing, and process requirements.
- Establish appropriate quality-control procedures and acceptance criteria for raw materials and finished products.
- Analyze production data and recommend improvements to reduce wastage and improve productivity.
- Ensure proper chemical handling, storage, PPE requirements, workplace safety, and compliance with applicable industrial safety and environmental practices.
- Support technical discussions with clients, vendors, consultants, and internal project teams when required.
- Maintain proper documentation related to trials, formulations, process parameters, testing, and process improvements.
- Support the development and scale-up of processes from laboratory trials to consistent production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Polymer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Polymer/PU manufacturing, chemical production, industrial insulation, or a closely related field.
- Candidates with 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in polyurethane (PU/PUF) foam production will be strongly preferred.
- Practical experience working with polyol and isocyanate systems, formulation, mixing, foam reaction, process optimization, and troubleshooting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, polymer chemistry, process engineering, and industrial chemical handling.
- Practical laboratory experience involving formulation, mixing, reaction monitoring, material testing, and process trials.
- Experience in production scale-up, process commissioning, SOP development, quality control, and manufacturing process optimization will be an added advantage.
- Experience with PUF sandwich panels, pipe sections, insulation systems, spray foam, rigid PU foam, or related PU products will be preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to understand process parameters and convert laboratory observations into practical production processes.
- Good technical documentation and communication skills.
- Knowledge of industrial safety, chemical storage, PPE, and safe handling practices.
- Familiarity with process simulation tools, engineering standards, and technical documentation practices is an advantage.
Preferred Candidate Profile
We are particularly interested in candidates who are hands-on, technically strong, and process-oriented, rather than candidates with only theoretical or academic knowledge.
The ideal candidate should understand the complete process from:
Raw Materials → Formulation/Mixing → Chemical Reaction → Foam Formation → Curing → Product Evaluation → Quality Control → Process Optimization → Production Scale-Up
Candidates who have personally worked with polyol and isocyanate systems, PU/PUF foam production, formulation, industrial insulation materials, or related manufacturing processes will be given preference.
Candidates who have independently handled or supported PUF production trials and conversion of laboratory formulations into consistent production processes are particularly encouraged to apply.
