The role will be hands-on and form an integral part of the team with the potential to turn into a team lead. This is a highly visible role, where you will be working closely with the management and live enterprise customers from day one, contributing to developing analytics alongside providing feedback to enhance existing data modelling functionalities. Our application stack is based on modern JavaScript frameworks, and the data processing stack is built on cutting-edge distributed computing architecture.
Responsibilities:
Enhance, implement and proactively engage in the development of analytical tools on our product used by financial services companies.
Realise and implement analytical models for various use cases in the financial domain, such as devising methods that enable the valuation of loan portfolios and analytics on cash-flow data.
Become an expert in modern SQL and data warehouses.
You'll have the opportunity to work on a modern data stack along with helping clients modernise their analytical stack.
Own and develop the data pipeline and processing architecture.
Interact with enterprise customers to train, support and gain feedback about the product.
Proactively explore and implement AI or machine learning techniques to aid any new feature (approx. 5% of the time for this, 95% for the tasks above).
Requirements:
Advanced SQL (window functions, caching, schema design, understanding of query performance and much more). 3+ years of hands-on SQL experience.
Shell scripting and Unix command line file handling and manipulation.
Practical, hands-on experience with data warehouses like Redshift and Bigquery.
Plus, to have good experience in Python and Apache Spark.
Great academic track record, ideally with a master's degree in a computing discipline.
Person with a minimum of 3+ years' experience as a data engineer, data scientist, financial analyst or similar.
Have excellent problem-solving and efficient debugging skills and be someone who embraces the attention to detail required while working with data sets.
A self-starter with the mindset and motivation to collaborate and drive projects through to completion.
Dedicated and passionate about working in an inclusive start-up environment.
Enthusiastic about being able to shape the direction of a company and its culture.
Intangibles:
Great communication skills to be able to clearly express ideas about data and analytics details with the team and clients.
Open and transparent while collaborating with team members and managers.
It is a plus if you have used Microsoft Excel extensively for data analytics and used tools like Moody's/Intex/Bloomberg for modelling and have been exposed to the process of software engineering. If not, you're ready to learn these quickly on the job.
