Senior Software Development Engineer

We are excited to announce an opening for a Senior Software Development Engineer (Sr. SDE), Grade 6 at Delta Air Lines. This role requires highly skilled test engineers who can lead end-to-end development at scale and influence technical and business stakeholders. The role requires strong hands-on expertise along with ownership, mentoring, and architectural decision-making capabilities. We are seeking a forward-looking senior software development engineer to design, build, and scale next-generation applications leveraging cloud-native architectures, AI/ML capabilities, and modern engineering practices.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable development and testing frameworks across UI, API, and backend layers.
Drive automation strategy for complex distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
Act as a quality advocate within agile teams, influencing architecture, design, and delivery decisions.
Collaborate with junior SDEs and SDETs on best practices, tools, and frameworks.
Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, architects, and DevOps teams to ensure quality from design to production.
Own understanding of business requirements, design, development, testing, and maintenance across environments.
Proactively identify risks, gaps, and quality issues and drive resolution across teams.
Support non-functional requirements, including performance, reliability, security, and resiliency.
Build and integrate AI/ML-powered features and agents into applications using AWS AI services.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code and contribute to both front-end and back-end development as a full-stack engineer.
Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software delivery, automate repetitive tasks, and improve code quality.
Requirements:
4 to 7 years of experience in information technology with deep expertise in full-stack development.
Strong hands-on programming experience using Angular and Node.js with a solid understanding of design principles.
Proven experience building and troubleshooting code, doing code reviews.
Strong working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (SQL, Oracle, MySQL, Cassandra, MongoDB).
Experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
Familiarity with playwright.
Strong experience with source control tools such as GitHub, GitLab, or AWS CDK.
Extensive experience with AWS servicesLambda, S3 IAM, CloudWatch, CDK, and other services.
Good AI fluency to maneuver and manage development and testing (unit testing, component testing, contract testing, vulnerability fixing, etc. )
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with AWS AI/ML services such as Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, and AgentCore.
Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools (e. g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, and Kiro) to accomplish tasks such as generating and reviewing code, writing and maintaining tests, creating documentation, and debugging, with the judgment to validate and own AI-generated output.
