About the Role
We are looking for an Application Sales Specialist – Linear Motors to develop and grow the Indian market for Xiaolan Power Linear Motor solutions.
This is a specialist role focused on application-driven technical sales.
Rather than selling a standard catalogue product, you will be expected to identify applications where conventional mechanical transmission systems such as ball screws, belts, racks & pinions or other rotary-to-linear mechanisms can potentially be replaced or enhanced by a direct-drive linear motor solution.
You will work closely with OEMs, machine builders, automation companies, system integrators and R&D / engineering teams to understand their motion requirements and develop the appropriate linear motor solution.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Develop the Indian market for Xiaolan Power Linear Motor solutions
Identify and develop OEMs, machine builders and automation companies with high-performance linear motion requirements
Proactively identify applications where linear motors can provide a technical and commercial advantage
Understand customer requirements including:
Travel / stroke
Speed and acceleration
Continuous and peak force
Positioning accuracy and repeatability
Duty cycle
Payload and moving mass
Number of axes
Machine cycle time
Environmental and operating conditions
Evaluate existing mechanical motion architectures and identify opportunities for linear motor conversion / replacement
Work with customer engineering teams to develop application concepts and technical solutions
Recommend suitable linear motor, encoder and associated motion-control solutions
Prepare application-based technical proposals and quotations
Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations and application discussions
Support customers during concept development, trials and technical validation
Coordinate with internal and supplier technical teams for sizing, application engineering and solution development
Follow opportunities through the complete cycle:
Application Identification → Technical Evaluation → Solution Proposal → Trial / Validation → Approval → Order
Develop relationships with machine designers, automation engineers, R&D teams and technical decision makers
Identify new industries and applications for linear motor technology
Develop competitive replacement opportunities against conventional linear motion solutions as well as competing linear motor technologies
Build and maintain a strong application-driven sales pipeline
What Kind of Applications Will You Work On?
The role will involve identifying and developing applications requiring high speed, high acceleration, precision, repeatability and dynamic motion, such as:
High-speed automation machinery
Semiconductor and electronics equipment
Pick-and-place and handling systems
Precision positioning systems
Inspection and testing equipment
Machine tools and precision machinery
Packaging machinery
Robotics and advanced automation
Laser and cutting systems
Assembly and dispensing systems
Multi-axis positioning applications
R&D and special-purpose machines
The candidate should have the ability to look beyond the obvious application and identify where direct-drive linear motion can create value.
The Technical Profile We Are Looking For
We are looking for an engineer with strong motion-control / automation application understanding, rather than a conventional component salesperson.
Preferred qualifications:
BE / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Automation or a related engineering discipline
2–8 years of experience in technical sales, application engineering or industrial automation
Experience with linear motors, servo motors, servo drives, motion control, linear stages, ball screws or precision automation will be an advantage
Good understanding of motion-control fundamentals
Ability to understand speed, acceleration, force, payload, duty cycle and positioning requirements
Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand machine architecture
Basic understanding of servo drives, encoders and motion controllers is preferred
Strong technical communication and presentation skills
Commercially confident and capable of converting technical discussions into business opportunities
Willingness to travel extensively across India
The Person We Are Looking For
This role is for someone who thinks:
“What is the customer's machine trying to achieve, and what is the best motion architecture to achieve it?”
—not simply:
“Which product can I quote?”
You should be comfortable challenging conventional solutions and explaining to an engineering team when and why a linear motor makes sense.
For example, you should be able to understand an application currently using a ball screw and ask:
Can the cycle time be improved?
Can acceleration be increased?
Is there a limitation from screw critical speed?
Is backlash or mechanical wear an issue?
Is higher positioning performance required?
Would direct drive simplify the mechanical architecture?

Experience With These Technologies Is a Plus
Candidates with experience in any of the following will be particularly relevant:
Linear Motors | Servo Motors | Servo Drives | Motion Controllers | Linear Stages | Ball Screws | Precision Automation | Robotics | CNC | Pick & Place Systems | Machine Automation
Experience with brands such as Yaskawa, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Siemens, Beckhoff, Bosch Rexroth, HIWIN, THK, Kollmorgen, Rockwell, Delta or similar motion-control technologies would be an advantage.
