Role Description This full-time Mechanical Engineer role is an on-site position based at the VISION RX LAB headquarters in Kolkata. The Mechanical Engineer will design, develop, and optimize machinery and equipment used in ophthalmic lens manufacturing, with a focus on reliability, safety, and efficiency. Responsibilities include creating and revising mechanical designs and CAD models, supporting installation and commissioning of equipment, and collaborating with production teams to improve throughput and reduce downtime. The role involves participating in R&D initiatives, testing and validating mechanical systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to continuous improvement projects. The Mechanical Engineer will also assist with project planning, documentation, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure that engineering solutions align with quality, regulatory, and operational standards.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with applied experience in Optical or PV Solar industry or from High vacuum technology
Proficiency in Machine Design and knowledge of production machinery, mechanisms, and mechanical systems.
Ability to work with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 2D/3D modeling, detailing, and technical drawings.
Experience in Project Management, including planning, coordination, timelines, and cross-functional collaboration.
Background in Research and Development (R&D), including experimentation, prototyping, and performance improvement of mechanical solutions.
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma with 5yrs. minimum experience
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials selection, and industry standards relevant to precision optics or similar sectors.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality requirements.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.
Willingness to work on-site in Kolkata and engage with shop-floor operations as needed.
