Role Description The Librarian is a full-time, on-site role based at Shri Ram Centennial School in Dehradun. The Librarian will manage the school library’s daily operations, including cataloging and organizing books and resources, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a welcoming, orderly environment for students and staff. This role includes guiding learners in locating and using information resources, supporting reading programs, and promoting a culture of reading and research across the school. The Librarian will collaborate with teachers to support classroom learning, assist in integrating library resources into lesson plans, and conduct basic library instruction sessions on information literacy. Additional responsibilities include overseeing circulation, managing inventory, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring that library policies are followed.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Library Science and Library Management, with the ability to organize, catalog, and maintain diverse collections.
Experience in Library Services, including circulation, reference support, and user assistance for students and staff.
Knowledge of Metadata and cataloging standards to accurately classify and retrieve information resources.
Skills in Library Instruction, including guiding students in research, information literacy, and effective use of library materials.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science or a related field from a recognized institution.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a student-centered and inclusive approach.
Proficiency in basic computer applications and library management software; comfort with digital resources and online research tools.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
Prior experience in a school or academic library setting is preferred.
