Role Description This is a part-time, remote Medical Coder (Trainer) role focused on teaching and mentoring learners in medical coding and health information concepts. The trainer will design and deliver online lessons, workshops, and practical exercises on medical terminology, coding systems, and health information management processes. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing training materials, reviewing coding guidelines, demonstrating correct coding practices, and providing constructive feedback on learner assignments. The role also involves answering learner questions, monitoring progress, updating curriculum content to align with current standards, and collaborating with the team to ensure high-quality training outcomes.
Qualifications
Coding experience with medical coding systems and practical application of coding guidelines.
Professional credentials such as RHIT or equivalent certification in Health Information Management.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and its use in documentation and coding.
Expertise in medical coding workflows, health records documentation, and compliance standards.
Prior experience teaching, mentoring, or training in a healthcare or educational setting is beneficial.
Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms.
Comfort with remote work tools, learning management systems, and virtual classroom platforms.
Relevant associate or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred.
