Role Description This is full-time, on-site roles based in Hosur for a Costing and Estimation Engineer in the fabrication field, focusing on metals such as MS, SS, and pressure vessels ONLY. The role involves preparing detailed cost estimates and BOQs for pressure vessels, storage tanks, structural fabrications, and related steel works based on drawings, specifications, and client requirements. The engineer will analyze material, labor, and process costs; coordinate with design, production, and procurement teams; and update costing databases and estimation templates. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing technical documents, supporting proposal and tender preparation, participating in price discussions and negotiations with clients and vendors, and providing cost insights to improve project profitability. The role also requires adherence to relevant codes and standards, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to continuous improvement in estimation practices.
Qualifications
Strong skills in BOQ preparation and project estimation for fabrication projects, including pressure vessels and steel structures.
Knowledge of Civil Engineering or related engineering principles relevant to industrial fabrication and construction interfaces.
Ability to conduct thorough technical and commercial research to validate costs, materials, processes, and market rates.
Negotiation skills to support price discussions with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors while maintaining cost and quality targets.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Experience in fabrication industry costing and estimation, preferably in MS/SS, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and heavy engineering.
Familiarity with relevant design and fabrication codes (e.g., ASME, IS standards) and basic knowledge of welding, machining, and surface treatment processes.
Proficiency in MS Office and estimation tools; ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs.
Attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and strong analytical and communication skills.
Ability to work on-site in Hosur, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage multiple quotations and projects within deadlines.
