Job Summary:
The Engineer – PPC will be responsible for production planning, scheduling, production control, material planning, ERP management, and cross-functional coordination to ensure timely production and delivery of customer orders. The role involves optimizing production capacity and resources, monitoring production performance, ensuring material availability, maintaining accurate ERP records, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Scheduling
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer orders, sales forecasts, inventory requirements, and delivery commitments.
Prepare machine-wise, line-wise, and process-wise production schedules.
Plan production considering available capacity, manpower, machine availability, material availability, and process lead time.
Coordinate with the Production team to ensure effective execution of production plans.
Monitor production plan adherence and identify deviations at an early stage.
Take corrective actions in coordination with relevant departments to minimize production delays.
Balance available production capacity with customer delivery commitments.
Reschedule production plans based on changes in priorities, customer requirements, material availability, machine breakdowns, or other operational constraints.
2. Production Control & Monitoring
Monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) and identify production bottlenecks and capacity constraints.
Track actual daily production against planned production and analyze variances.
Coordinate with Production Supervisors to improve schedule adherence and productivity.
Monitor process-wise and machine-wise production performance.
Ensure proper production punching and timely recording of production data in Manufapp ERP.
Verify daily production entries for accuracy and completeness.
Monitor pending production orders and ensure timely closure of work orders.
Escalate critical production delays and bottlenecks to the concerned management.
3. Material Planning & MRP
Coordinate with Purchase and Stores to ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, packaging materials, and consumables.
Prepare and maintain Material Requirements Planning (MRP) based on production plans and customer requirements.
Analyze material requirements against existing inventory, open purchase orders, and production requirements.
Monitor inventory levels to avoid production stoppages due to material shortages.
Identify and communicate material shortages in advance.
Raise material shortage alerts and coordinate with Purchase for urgent procurement requirements.
Follow up on material availability and ensure materials are available as per the production schedule.
Support optimization of inventory levels while ensuring uninterrupted production.
4. ERP Management & Documentation
Maintain production plans, work orders, BOMs, routing/process details, and production status in Manufapp ERP.
Ensure accurate and timely ERP transactions related to production and inventory.
Maintain production planning records, reports, MIS, and other PPC documentation.
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly production performance reports.
Monitor and maintain data accuracy in the ERP system.
Prepare online shipment documentation and shipment schedules in Manufapp as per customer delivery requirements.
Coordinate with Dispatch to ensure shipment planning is aligned with production completion and customer commitments.
Ensure timely closure of production and dispatch-related ERP transactions.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Stores, Quality, Maintenance, Dispatch, Sales, and other concerned departments for smooth execution of production plans.
Ensure production schedules are aligned with customer requirements and committed delivery dates.
Coordinate with Maintenance regarding machine breakdowns and expected machine availability.
Coordinate with Quality for inspection, rejection, rework, and release of materials/products affecting production schedules.
Participate in daily production review meetings and monitor action items.
Communicate changes in production priorities and schedules to concerned departments.
Follow up on critical issues affecting production and delivery commitments.
6. Production Performance & MIS
Prepare and maintain PPC-related MIS and performance reports.
Monitor key performance indicators such as Production Plan vs. Actual, Schedule Adherence, Capacity Utilization, Machine Utilization, WIP, Production Lead Time, Material Availability, On-Time Delivery, and Production Downtime.
Analyze production variances and identify reasons for deviations.
Provide timely updates to management regarding production status, delays, bottlenecks, and critical requirements.
Maintain accurate and timely PPC data for management review.
7. Process Improvement & Optimization
Identify opportunities to improve production planning and scheduling efficiency.
Work towards reducing production lead time, machine idle time, WIP, and production delays.
Improve resource utilization through effective capacity planning.
Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify recurring production bottlenecks and support corrective and preventive actions.
Support ERP implementation, system improvements, automation, and digitalization of PPC processes.
Develop and implement standardized PPC processes and reporting formats wherever required.
