About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Role Description
We are seeking a specialized Rotor & Aerodynamics Design Engineer to lead the aerodynamic development of small rooftop wind turbines. This role focuses on the core physics of wind capture, specifically designing, selecting, and optimizing rotors and composite blades for 1kW to 3kW capacity systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of fluid dynamics and wind concepts to maximize efficiency in urban and rooftop environments.
Key Responsibilities
Rotor Selection & Design: Identify, evaluate, and select optimal rotor configurations suited for small-scale rooftop wind applications.
Aerodynamic Optimization: Calculate and optimize the Tip Speed Ratio (TSR) to ensure maximum aerodynamic efficiency across varying wind conditions.
Blade Development: Contribute to the research and development of composite blades, analyzing airfoil shapes and structural integrity under operational loads.
Performance Modeling: Develop theoretical power curves and aerodynamic models to predict turbine performance before physical prototyping.
CFD Analysis: Utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools to simulate airflow around rotors and roof structures to mitigate turbulence and wake effects.
