About The Role
We are looking for an experienced HR Head to lead the complete Human Resources function for a reputed non-profit organization. The role requires a strong understanding of the non-profit/development sector, along with the ability to build people practices that support organizational growth, employee engagement and program delivery.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic HR leader who can balance people, culture, organizational effectiveness and compliance, while working closely with the leadership team and program teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
Develop and execute the organization's overall HR strategy and people agenda in alignment with organizational goals.
Partner with the leadership team on workforce planning, organization structure and talent strategy.
Build scalable HR processes and systems suitable for a growing non-profit organization.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Lead end-to-end recruitment across program, operations, fundraising, finance and corporate functions.
Develop effective talent pipelines, particularly for specialized development-sector roles.
Drive workforce planning and succession planning for critical positions.
Performance & People Development
Design and manage performance management and appraisal frameworks.
Develop learning and development initiatives aligned with employee and organizational needs.
Build leadership development and succession frameworks.
Employee Engagement & Culture
Strengthen organizational culture, employee engagement and retention.
Develop initiatives around employee experience, recognition and wellbeing.
Act as a trusted partner to employees and leadership on people-related matters.
HR Policies & Compliance
Establish and strengthen HR policies, processes and SOPs.
Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and statutory requirements.
Oversee HR documentation, employee records, payroll coordination and related processes.
HR Operations & Governance
Lead the HR team and ensure efficient delivery of core HR operations.
Develop and monitor HR MIS and people analytics for management decision-making.
Ensure effective HR governance across offices/program locations.
What We're Looking For
MBA/PGDM in Human Resources, preferably from a full-time program.
12+ years of overall HR experience, with significant experience in the non-profit/development sector.
Strong understanding of the unique people, talent and organizational challenges within NGOs, foundations, development organizations or social-impact institutions.
Proven experience managing HR at a strategic leadership level.
Strong exposure to talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, HR policies and organizational development.
Experience working closely with CXOs/Founders/Senior Leadership.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
High degree of maturity, ownership and ability to operate in a purpose-driven environment.
Ideal Candidate
We are specifically looking for an HR leader who has grown within the non-profit/development ecosystem, rather than someone from a purely corporate HR background.
The candidate should understand the realities of mission-driven organizations, program teams, field workforce, donor/funder environments and resource-conscious people practices, while bringing strong corporate-level HR discipline and governance.
