Role Description This part-time Contractor – Java Full Stack Engineer (FSE) role focuses on building and enhancing data-driven healthcare solutions using Java, Databricks, and Generative AI capabilities. The role is hybrid, based in Hyderabad, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and developing scalable backend services in Java, integrating front-end components, and working with data pipelines and lakehouse architectures in Databricks. The contractor will collaborate with data engineers, AI/ML specialists, and product teams to implement Generative AI features, optimize performance, and ensure secure, compliant handling of healthcare data. Additional tasks include troubleshooting production issues, writing clean and testable code, participating in code reviews, and documenting technical solutions aligned with Optum’s engineering standards.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Field Service, Troubleshooting, and Technical Support skills for managing and resolving technical issues in distributed systems.
Candidates should possess Preventive Maintenance and Customer Service skills to proactively ensure system reliability and deliver a positive stakeholder experience.
Proficiency in Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot), with experience in full stack development (REST APIs, microservices, front-end integration).
Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, or similar data engineering platforms, including data pipelines, ETL, and lakehouse architectures.
Experience applying Generative AI (e.g., LLMs, prompt engineering, model integration via APIs) within production-grade applications is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with cloud environments (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong problem-solving abilities, collaborative mindset, and ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment across cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in software development.
