Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai for an Architectural Model Maker. The role involves interpreting architectural drawings and CAD files, planning model-building processes, and creating detailed physical models using various materials and fabrication techniques. Day-to-day tasks include cutting, assembling, and finishing components, operating basic machining tools, and maintaining an organized, safe workshop. The Architectural Model Maker will collaborate with designers and architects to refine prototypes, ensure accuracy to design specifications, and meet project deadlines. The role also includes documenting work, managing materials inventory, and contributing to continuous improvement of model-making methods.
Qualifications
Strong model-building and prototyping skills, with experience creating physical architectural or product models.
Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and the ability to interpret and translate technical drawings into physical models.
Solid drawing skills to visualize concepts, sketch details, and communicate design ideas clearly.
Hands-on experience with machining or workshop tools, and comfort working with materials such as foam, wood, plastics, and acrylic.
Attention to detail, precise craftsmanship, and a commitment to quality and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple projects, follow schedules, and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Relevant education in architecture, industrial design, model making, or a related field is preferred.
Prior experience in an architectural studio, design firm, or model-making workshop is an advantage.
