Company Description Solistra is building a matter-centric legal AI workspace that helps lawyers and legal teams manage documents, facts, context, and work product within a single unified Matter. The platform enables research with evidence-backed answers, drafting of contracts and pleadings, large-scale document review, and structured analysis of issues and risks across complex legal workflows. Core components like the Vault, Assistant, Briefcase, Digest, and Context work together to turn unstructured legal materials into intelligible, usable outputs. Solistra is designed for document-intensive work such as contracts, due diligence, M&A, IP, litigation, and regulatory matters, with a particular focus on the realities of Indian legal practice. The company is focused on advancing legal AI beyond faster answers, toward deeper matter understanding and higher-quality legal work.
Role Description As a Legal Engineer at Solistra, you will work full time on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, collaborating closely with product, engineering, and legal teams to design and refine the workflows that power Solistra’s legal AI workspace. You will analyze complex legal processes across domains such as contracts, litigation, regulatory matters, and due diligence, and translate them into structured data models, workflows, and product features. Your day-to-day work will include mapping matter lifecycles, designing templates and schemas for documents and work products, and configuring AI-driven tools to support research, drafting, and document review. You will review and test legal use cases, validate outputs against legal standards, and provide clear feedback to improve accuracy, reliability, and usability. You will also help create documentation, best practices, and training materials for users, and may support pilots or implementations with law firms and in-house legal teams.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in law, with experience in complex, document-intensive matters (e.g., contracts, M&A, litigation, regulatory work, IP); qualified lawyer or legal professional background preferred.
Ability to analyze and model legal workflows into clear steps, data structures, and decision points; experience with process design, legal operations, or knowledge management is a plus.
Comfort working with technology products, including legal tech or AI tools; familiarity with concepts such as data schemas, tagging, search, and document automation is beneficial.
Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills, with attention to detail and the ability to evaluate and explain complex legal outputs to both legal and technical stakeholders.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment and provide structured, actionable feedback.
Interest in legal AI, innovation in legal practice, and building tools for high-volume, high-stakes legal work; prior experience in start-ups or product-focused environments is advantageous.
