Role Description This is a full-time, remote role for a Career Counselor – Commission Based at HackHalt Cyber Intelligence Council. The Career Counselor will guide students and professionals exploring cybersecurity and related fields, helping them identify suitable learning paths, certifications, and career trajectories. Daily responsibilities include conducting one-on-one counseling sessions, assessing career goals, recommending appropriate programs, and providing ongoing career development support. The role involves managing a pipeline of prospective learners, maintaining accurate records of counseling interactions, and collaborating with internal teams to align guidance with current industry trends and HackHalt’s offerings. The counselor will also participate in virtual events, webinars, and outreach activities to increase awareness of cybersecurity career opportunities and HackHalt’s training initiatives.
Qualifications
Career Counseling, Career Development, and Career Management skills to support individuals in planning and progressing their professional journeys.
Student Counseling and Communication skills to effectively engage with learners, understand their needs, and present clear, actionable guidance.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with diverse audiences across different backgrounds and experience levels.
Knowledge or interest in cybersecurity, IT, or technology education, with the ability to learn and convey industry trends and role requirements.
Comfort working in a remote, commission-based environment with self-motivation, time management, and goal-oriented focus.
Previous experience in academic advising, career services, recruitment, or training and development is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
