Role Description This full-time, on-site Placement Underwriting role is based in Mumbai. The position involves evaluating insurance proposals, analyzing risk profiles, and recommending placement of life and general insurance policies with appropriate insurers. The role includes reviewing documentation, coordinating with insurers and internal teams, and ensuring compliance with IRDAI regulations and company guidelines. The Placement Underwriter will prepare quotations, negotiate terms and conditions, and support the design of insurance solutions tailored to client needs. Daily activities also involve maintaining accurate records, supporting reporting requirements, and contributing to process improvements in underwriting and placement workflows.
Qualifications
Strong analytical and risk assessment abilities, with experience interpreting policy wordings, terms, conditions, and exclusions.
Knowledge of insurance products in life and general lines, and familiarity with IRDAI regulations and broking practices.
Proficiency in documentation review, data accuracy, and use of MS Office or similar tools for analysis and reporting.
Effective communication and negotiation skills for interacting with insurers, internal stakeholders, and clients.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple placements and timelines in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, insurance, business, or a related field; professional insurance certifications (e.g., licentiate/associate from insurance institutes) are an advantage.
Prior experience in underwriting, placement, or insurance broking is highly beneficial; exposure to both life and general insurance is a plus.
