Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Ahmedabad for a Junior Couture Designer. The Junior Couture Designer will assist in conceptualizing and developing couture collections that align with Chambray & Co.’s sustainable and eco-ethical design philosophy. Day-to-day responsibilities include sketching and refining design ideas, selecting and experimenting with upcycled and recycled textiles, and supporting pattern-making and garment construction. The role involves working closely with senior designers and local artisans to incorporate traditional techniques, ensure high-quality finishing, and maintain consistency in fit and style. The Junior Couture Designer will also participate in sample development, fittings, and production coordination, while maintaining detailed documentation of designs, materials, and processes.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess skills in fashion illustration, technical sketching, and basic pattern-making.
Candidates should possess skills in garment construction, hand sewing, and surface embellishment or embroidery techniques.
Candidates should possess skills in fabric selection, knowledge of textiles (especially indigenous and sustainable materials), and color coordination.
Candidates should possess skills in creative concept development, storytelling through design, and trend awareness adapted to a sustainability-focused brand.
Candidates should possess skills in collaboration with artisans, clear communication with production teams, and the ability to take constructive feedback.
Relevant qualifications include a diploma or degree in Fashion Design or a related field, familiarity with couture processes, and a strong interest in sustainable and ethical fashion.
Additional mandatory qualifications include proficiency with basic design software, attention to detail, time management, and willingness to learn and work hands-on in a studio environment.
