About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on DevOps / Platform Engineer to support the OMX – Order Management Modernization program for a major retail client.
The platform is a modern, event-driven Java/Spring Boot microservices architecture running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with technologies including Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Temporal, and Solace.
You will be responsible for cloud infrastructure, environment provisioning, CI/CD, containerization, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, observability, security, and deployment support. You will work closely with developers, QA engineers, business analysts, and delivery leadership in a collaborative client-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provision and manage GCP environments, IAM, VPC networking, GKE clusters, namespaces, and access controls.
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
Build and manage Docker container images, including multi-stage builds and container registry management.
Configure and manage GKE/Kubernetes environments and deployment promotion across Development, QA, Staging, and Production.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for repeatable and consistent environment provisioning.
Configure and support API Gateway technologies, including GCP API Gateway, Apigee, or equivalent platforms.
Support event-driven integrations using Solace, Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, or similar messaging technologies.
Support deployment and scaling of Temporal workers and workflow infrastructure within GKE.
Implement and maintain observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as New Relic, Grafana, Splunk, and GCP-native monitoring.
Manage application secrets, credentials, and security controls using GCP Secret Manager and least-privilege IAM practices.
Troubleshoot infrastructure, connectivity, deployment, and pipeline issues across development and test environments.
Collaborate with development and QA teams on release management, deployment strategy, UAT, go-live, incident response, and hypercare.
Required Qualifications
4+ years of hands-on DevOps / Platform Engineering experience.
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including GKE, IAM, VPC, Secret Manager, and Cloud Monitoring/Logging.
Strong experience with Kubernetes, preferably Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), in production environments.
Hands-on experience with Docker, containerization, image creation, and container registries.
Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC); strong Terraform experience preferred.
Experience with API Gateway technologies such as GCP API Gateway, Apigee, or equivalent.
Understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Solace, Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, or similar.
Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic, Grafana, Splunk, or GCP-native alternatives.
Scripting experience with Bash, Python, Go, or similar languages.
Strong understanding of microservices, containerized deployments, cloud infrastructure, and production support.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced delivery environment.
Nice to Have
Experience with Temporal.io or other workflow orchestration platforms.
Experience with Java/Spring Boot microservices environments.
Background in Order Management, Warehouse Management, Supply Chain, Retail, or Fulfillment systems.
Google Cloud certification such as Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect.
Experience working in a consulting or client-delivery environment with distributed onshore/offshore teams.
