About the Chamber:
Established in 1985 by Adv. Pradeep Kumar Majumdar and presently partnered by Adv. Promit Majumdar, Majumdar Law Chamber is a premier law practice specializing in direct and indirect taxation, statutory compliances, company law, commercial disputes, and constitutional writs. We regularly represent corporate entities and individual clients before High Courts, appellate tribunals, and statutory authorities.
Position: Junior Advocate
Practice Focus: Direct & Indirect Tax Litigation, Appellate Tribunals, High Court Writs & Statutory Compliances
Location: Kolkata, West Bengal
Engagement: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct rigorous legal research and prepare case analysis on direct/indirect tax laws, GST, Income Tax, and constitutional writ precedents.
Draft writ petitions, stay applications, grounds of appeal, show-cause replies, and statutory representations.
Assist in case preparation and accompany senior advocates for briefings, conferences, and hearings before the High Court, Tax Tribunals (ITAT/CESTAT/GSTAT), and departmental appellate forums.
Coordinate court registry procedures, filings, case tracking, and compliance management.
Candidate Requirements:
LL.B. / B.A. LL.B. degree from a recognized university.
Active enrollment with the Bar Council.
0 to 2 years of relevant experience or a demonstrable keen interest in tax law, commercial litigation, and writ practice (freshers with strong internships in tax/litigation chambers are encouraged to apply).
Sound understanding of procedural laws, tax statutes, and constitutional remedies.
Strong legal drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
