The Office Web Shared Team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer who is passionate about working on high-scale geo-distributed WXP Shared Platform. Web Shared is gearing up for investment in world class fundamentals for Office apps like performance and reliability along with new Copilot value. Responsibilities
Influence and create new designs and architectures.
Performance benchmarking of Word, Excel, Power Point apps perf improvements by influencing architecture and designs.
Have a passion for secure, reliable, scalable and maintainable code.
Write code and test cases for feature development.
Is able to identify new tech modernization opportunities, do quick POCs, showcase value and align partners on making it a successful platform / product.
Defining new components with understanding of service interdependencies and limitations.
Work effectively with multiple product development and engineering teams.
You must be self-driven, curious to learn, proactive, result oriented, a thought leader having solid communication and influencing skills.
Identifying opportunities to leveraging AI for making the organization more productive.
Help build and foster a culture of Engineering Excellence.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
12+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in cloud infrastructure management or web.
Expertise in one and/or familiarity with Web development and programming languages, such as C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript/ TypeScript.
Expert on performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
Solid knowledge of software engineering principles, patterns, and practices, such as object-oriented design, test-driven development, and agile methodologies.
Experience with cloud platforms and services, such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Deep interest in AI, machine learning, or data science, or related technologies.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Passion for learning new skills and technologies and sharing them with others.
