Position Senior Associate / Associate Lead Workplace Design
Location: Bangalore
Role Overview
The Senior Associate / Associate Lead Workplace Design serves as the design lead for assigned projects, combining hands-on design involvement with strong team leadership.
In this role, you will lead and mentor a team of designers, maintain high design standards from concept development through documentation and on-site execution, and act as the senior design authority for the project.
You will represent and articulate the team's creative vision in client interactions, guiding day-to-day discussions with confidence, clarity, and strategic perspective.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership on Projects
Set the design direction on assigned projects and hold it through value engineering, procurement, and site realities.
Own the decisions on space planning, material palettes, and detailing where priorities compete, and explain the rationale to clients and internal teams.
Help shape the studio's design standards through the quality of work and the rigour of the reviews you run.
Client Leadership
Act as the senior design counterpart in day-to-day client interactions understanding their business goals, workplace strategy, and cultural ambitions, and translating them into a spatial vision.
Lead client presentations and design workshops, and steer conversations toward decisions. Build trust through clarity, responsiveness, and follow-through across the design lifecycle.
Lead the design content of pitches and pursuits, working alongside the Director on the overall narrative. Team Leadership
Lead and mentor the designers on your projects allocating work, reviewing output, and building their judgment.
Run design reviews and critiques that sharpen the work and raise the team's level.
Set expectations on quality, pace, and accountability, and coach people to meet them.
Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and performance conversations for your team. Concept to Execution
Own the concept package end to end: space planning, material and finish strategy, and furniture.
Oversee mood boards, 3D visualisation, and presentation packages, and set the standard for how ideas are communicated.
Drive space plans that balance workflow, ergonomics, density, and culture, and that make the most of every square foot.
Approve material and finish specifications against aesthetic, performance, safety, and sustainability criteria.
Commercial and Delivery Ownership
Build and track project design budgets and timelines, and make cost-conscious decisions without diluting design intent.
Guide sourcing and procurement of materials and furnishings within agreed commercial parameters.
Partner with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to keep execution aligned to design intent.
Direct the production of drawings, specifications, and documentation for construction and permitting, and hold the team to documentation quality.
Lead site inspections and quality reviews, resolving issues on site with authority and speed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in interior design or a related field.
8 12 years of experience in corporate interiors / workplace design, including experience leading project teams.
A portfolio of delivered enterprise-scale workplace projects where you held design ownership.
Proficiency in SketchUp, Revit, and Photoshop.
Proven ability to lead client presentations and contribute to pitches.
Project management exposure and commercial fluency around budgets, timelines, and procurement.
Strong problem-solving instincts and rigorous attention to detail.
Active engagement with industry trends, innovations, and best practices through workshops, seminars, and conferences.
