The Opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Java Engineer to help design, build, and support advanced business applications within ING's Wholesale Lending domain.
This role combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, offering the opportunity to influence architecture, drive engineering improvements, and ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of mission-critical systems.
What You'll Do
Own and support critical applications across the Wholesale Lending landscape.
Design, develop, and enhance scalable Java-based solutions.
Drive technical improvements, engineering best practices, and team-wide initiatives.
Balance feature delivery with platform stability, security, and risk management.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to shape technical solutions.
Build and maintain secure, resilient, and high-performing applications.
Contribute hands-on through coding, testing, and continuous improvement activities.
What You'll Bring
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of Java (Java 8 or higher).
Extensive experience with Spring Boot and the Spring Framework.
Solid understanding of Microservices Architecture and Event-Driven Architecture.
Strong experience working with Relational Databases (RDBMS).
Knowledge of software design principles, patterns, and modern engineering practices.
Experience with CI/CD tools and automated delivery pipelines.
Strong understanding of secure application design and coding practices.
Leadership & Collaboration
Ability to lead technical discussions and drive engineering decisions.
Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders.
Proven ability to introduce and champion technical improvements.
Strong focus on system stability, security, and risk management.
Passion for delivering high-quality solutions and fostering engineering excellence.
