Software Engineer Intern

Role Description This is a remote internship role for a Software Engineer Intern at Next Quarter (NQ). The intern will support the development and maintenance of Shopify-related software solutions, primarily focusing on back-end features and integrations. Day-to-day tasks may include writing and testing code, debugging issues, contributing to API integrations, and assisting in the design and implementation of new functionality. The intern will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional team members to deliver reliable, performant solutions that align with client growth objectives. This internship offers hands-on experience in a professional software development environment with opportunities to learn best practices and modern tooling.
Qualifications
Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
Skills in Software Development and Programming, with experience in at least one modern programming language (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Ruby, or similar).
Understanding of Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, server-side logic, and working with databases.
Familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their application in building modular, maintainable code.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Ability to learn quickly, work independently in a remote setting, and collaborate effectively with distributed team members.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and interest in ecommerce or Shopify ecosystem is beneficial.
Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and basic knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
