Role Description
1. Role Overview
Functional Software Quality Process Lead engineer responsible for defining, deploying, and institutionalizing enterprise-wide Software Quality frameworks and processes across connected ecosystems. Drives Built-in Quality by embedding quality into engineering lifecycle, ensuring predictable, scalable, secure and reliable software systems. Acts as a high-impact individual contributor influencing global engineering teams and business units.
2. Key Responsibilities
• Define and institutionalize Software Quality Framework across devices, gateways, cloud, mobile and connectivity layers.
• Ensure end-to-end traceability across software–firmware–cloud–application systems.
• Drive risk-based engineering and quality decision frameworks for IoT systems.
• Embed Built-in Quality in SDLC aligned to Agile / SAFe / DevOps / V-models.
• Enable CI/CD quality gates, shift-left practices and defect prevention strategies.
• Address system constraints: resource limitations, scalability, network variability and backward compatibility.
• Establish proactive quality metrics and leading indicators.
• Build leadership dashboards enabling visibility and predictive risk management.
• Institutionalize RCA, CAPA and closed-loop improvement mechanisms.
• Drive learnings from field issues, outages, interoperability and security incidents.
• Align cross-functional teams: embedded, cloud, mobile, architecture, cybersecurity and field quality.
• Influence stakeholders without authority to drive adoption of quality practices.
3. Candidate Profile
• 12+ years in Software Engineering / Quality / System Excellence, preferably in IoT or connected systems.
• Strong hands-on background in development.
• Experience in Agile, SAFe, waterfall, DevOps and global engineering setups.
• Expertise in embedded systems, cloud platforms and IoT communication protocols.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps quality frameworks.
• Experience with quality KPIs, reliability engineering and defect prevention.
• Familiarity with tools like SonarQube and structured problem-solving (RCA, 8D, CAPA, FMEA).
4. Success Measures
• Adoption of Software Quality Framework across business units.
• Reduction in defect leakage and field failures.
• Improved product reliability and release predictability.
• Strong visibility through quality dashboards and leading indicators.
