Job Description

Job Title: Marketing Lead – Multi-Specialty & General Medicines Division
Department: Marketing
Location: Corporate Office, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad
Reports To: Division Head
Purpose of the Role
The Marketing Lead will be responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing plans for the company’s pharmaceutical products across the Multi-Specialty & General Medicines portfolio. The role will drive brand growth, strengthen product positioning, support sales effectiveness, identify market opportunities, and build the company’s presence across targeted therapeutic segments.
The role will work closely with Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Business Development, Supply Chain, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable brand and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marketing Strategy
Develop and execute annual and quarterly marketing plans for assigned products and brands.
Identify market opportunities, customer segments, therapeutic opportunities, and potential areas for business growth.
Develop brand strategies based on market research, competitor intelligence, customer insights, and evolving market dynamics.
Define product positioning, key messaging, communication strategies, and differentiated value propositions.
Translate business objectives into actionable marketing strategies and initiatives.
2. Product & Brand Management
Own and manage the complete lifecycle of assigned pharmaceutical brands.
Develop and implement comprehensive brand plans aligned with business, sales, and market-share objectives.
Monitor brand and product performance and recommend appropriate corrective and growth initiatives.
Lead new product launch planning, including market assessment, positioning, promotional strategy, launch execution, and sales-force readiness.
Develop product presentations, visual aids, product literature, digital content, and other promotional materials in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for portfolio expansion, line extensions, and lifecycle management.
3. Sales & Field Force Support
Partner closely with the Sales team to achieve product-wise, territory-wise, and overall business objectives.
Develop impactful promotional campaigns, communication tools, and selling propositions for Medical Representatives and sales managers.
Conduct product training, marketing workshops, and campaign briefings for the field force.
Gather and analyse feedback from the field force and healthcare professionals and incorporate relevant insights into brand strategies.
Track campaign effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance field-force productivity and business outcomes.
4. Market Research & Competitive Intelligence
Analyse market trends, prescription trends, competitor activities, pricing, product positioning, and evolving customer needs.
Monitor competitor launches, promotional strategies, market initiatives, and portfolio developments.
Develop actionable market intelligence to identify business opportunities, competitive threats, and potential risks.
Prepare regular brand, market, and competitive performance reports for management review.
Leverage relevant market data and insights to support strategic decision-making.
5. Doctor & Customer Engagement
Develop scientifically appropriate and impactful communication for healthcare professionals.
Support and drive doctor engagement initiatives, CMEs, conferences, professional meetings, and other appropriate customer engagement programs.
Partner with Medical Affairs to ensure that promotional communication is scientifically robust, accurate, and compliant.
Develop a strong understanding of customer needs, treatment practices, and prescribing behaviour and translate these insights into effective brand strategies.
Ensure consistency and effectiveness of brand communication across relevant customer touchpoints.
6. Cross-Functional & External Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Business Development, Supply Chain, Finance, Production, and other relevant functions.
Work with creative agencies, market research agencies, and other external partners to develop and execute marketing initiatives.
Provide clear briefs, timelines, and deliverables to external agencies and ensure effective execution.
Drive cross-functional alignment for product launches, campaigns, and key marketing initiatives.
Ensure timely execution of approved marketing plans and activities.
7. Budget & Performance Management
Develop and manage the marketing budget for assigned brands and initiatives.
Monitor marketing spends and ensure effective utilisation of approved budgets.
Evaluate return on marketing investment and overall effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
Track key performance indicators, including sales growth, market share, prescription generation, campaign effectiveness, brand profitability, and other relevant business metrics.
Present brand performance, market insights, business plans, and strategic recommendations to senior management.
8. Compliance & Ethical Marketing
Ensure all marketing and promotional activities comply with applicable Indian pharmaceutical laws, regulations, industry codes, company policies, and ethical marketing standards.
Coordinate with Medical and Regulatory teams for review and approval of promotional materials and communication.
Ensure that all product claims and promotional communication are accurate, evidence-based, and appropriately substantiated.
Maintain high standards of ethical engagement and professional conduct with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
Desired Qualification & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences or a related discipline.
MBA/PGDM in Marketing from a reputed institution is preferred.
Additional qualifications or certifications in pharmaceutical marketing, brand management, or a related area would be an advantage.
10+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical marketing, preferably with exposure to multi-specialty and/or general medicines.
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical brand management, market dynamics, prescription behaviour, and healthcare professional engagement.
Demonstrated experience in developing and executing brand strategies, product launches, promotional campaigns, and market development initiatives.
Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and fast-paced business environment.
