About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Information Security and Systems Specialist, Salesforce based in India.
This role offers the opportunity to own Salesforce administration within a globally distributed, mission-driven organization focused on using data, technology, and evidence to create social impact.
You will steward a live production environment, keeping configuration, permissions, data, reporting, and user access reliable and well governed.
The position combines Salesforce administration, information security, identity and access management, user support, data integrity, and enterprise systems operations.
You will work closely with users and external partners to prioritize improvements, manage changes, and ensure the platform continues to meet evolving organizational needs.
As the wider systems landscape expands, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of additional enterprise platforms and understand how core systems work together.
The role provides significant autonomy, professional development opportunities, and exposure to international teams working across multiple countries and time zones.
This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on systems professional who combines technical judgment with empathy, strong communication, and a proactive approach to solving problems.
Accountabilities
Salesforce administration: Own the day-to-day administration and declarative configuration of Salesforce, including users and licenses, permission sets, roles, sharing rules, record types, page layouts, picklists, validation rules, and Flows.
Identity and access management: Manage joiner, mover, and leaver processes through the organization’s identity provider, apply least-privilege principles, conduct regular access reviews, and maintain clear, auditable records of system access.
User support and enablement: Resolve system issues, run user office hours, develop troubleshooting playbooks, support onboarding, and maintain role-based reference materials as the platform evolves.
Data integrity: Monitor data completeness and duplicate records, produce data quality reporting for functional and regional owners, and safely execute bulk data updates and maintenance activities.
Reporting and analytics: Build and maintain reports and dashboards that provide actionable information to Finance, Fundraising, Chiefs of Staff, and executive stakeholders.
Change management and prioritization: Evaluate incoming requests, determine whether they can be addressed through configuration or require development, prioritize work based on value and effort, and ensure changes are implemented thoughtfully.
Vendor and partner management: Coordinate with external Salesforce partners by defining requirements, managing the backlog, prioritizing enhancements, and acceptance-testing delivered solutions.
Documentation and governance: Maintain accurate configuration records, system documentation, and operational runbooks so that changes and processes remain understandable and auditable over time.
Enterprise systems support: Contribute to general systems support when needed and progressively take responsibility for additional enterprise applications as the broader systems transformation program develops.
Professional contribution: Share technical knowledge, contribute to internal systems initiatives, and continuously improve the tools, processes, and support experience available to colleagues.
Requirements
Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in systems administration, IT, or a related field, including at least 2 years administering Salesforce within a live production environment.
Salesforce expertise: Hands-on experience with declarative Salesforce configuration, including permission sets, sharing models, record types, and Flows, along with the judgment to recognize when development support is required.
Certification: Salesforce Certified Administrator certification is preferred; candidates who are willing to pursue certification after joining are also encouraged to apply.
Platform knowledge: Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud is an advantage, as is experience administering other enterprise platforms such as collaboration suites, ITSM tools, HRIS, SASE, ATS, or ERP systems.
Data and reporting: Comfortable creating reports and dashboards and performing bulk data operations carefully while maintaining strong data integrity.
Identity and security: Familiarity with single sign-on, directory provisioning, joiner-mover-leaver processes, access reviews, and least-privilege principles.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another quantitative discipline is preferred.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and collaborate effectively across teams.
Problem solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ambiguous challenges from high-level ideas through practical execution.
Ownership and adaptability: A self-starting, execution-oriented mindset, comfort with ambiguity, strong autonomy, and the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
People skills: Empathy, active listening, strong teamwork, and a genuine interest in understanding and supporting colleagues’ needs and challenges.
