Role Description The Purchase Engineer (Mechanical, CBSE background – Fabrication Only) will manage end-to-end procurement activities for mechanical and fabrication-related materials and components at the Bhopal facility. This full-time, on-site role includes identifying and evaluating suppliers, requesting and reviewing quotations, negotiating prices and terms, and issuing purchase orders in line with project requirements and organizational standards. The role involves coordinating with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure timely availability of materials, adherence to specifications, and optimization of cost and delivery schedules. The Purchase Engineer will monitor inventory levels, support purchase planning, track order status, and resolve any discrepancies related to deliveries, documentation, or quality. Daily responsibilities also include maintaining accurate purchasing records, preparing reports and analyses, and contributing to continuous improvement in procurement processes for fabrication projects.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of purchasing processes and purchase management for mechanical and fabrication materials.
Experience in purchase planning and handling purchase orders in a manufacturing or heavy fabrication environment.
Well-developed analytical skills for cost comparison, vendor evaluation, and procurement data analysis.
Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification) from a recognized board/university.
Understanding of fabrication drawings, material specifications, and standards relevant to bridge bearings, expansion joints, and heavy steel structures.
Ability to work on-site in Bhopal and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, quality, and finance).
Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP or procurement software.
Strong negotiation, communication, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and adherence to quality and compliance standards.
