Role Description The Data Annotator role is a full-time remote position focused on preparing high-quality labeled data sets for use in AI and machine learning projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing text, image, audio, or video data, applying predefined labels and tags, and ensuring consistency with detailed annotation guidelines. The Data Annotator will validate and correct existing annotations, report edge cases or ambiguous data to project leads, and document patterns or issues that could improve labeling instructions. The role also involves collaborating with engineers, data scientists, and project managers to clarify requirements, meet quality and productivity targets, and contribute feedback for process and tooling improvements. Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work efficiently in a remote environment are critical for success in this position.
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling large volumes of data, with the ability to follow complex annotation guidelines.
Basic understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, or prior experience in data labeling, data entry, or quality assurance.
Proficiency with digital tools and platforms (spreadsheets, web-based annotation tools, issue trackers) and comfort working in a remote, tech-driven environment.
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to raise questions, report issues, and document findings clearly.
Ability to meet productivity and quality targets, work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate with cross-functional, distributed teams.
High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Data Science, Linguistics, or related disciplines) is a plus.
Willingness to work with different data types (text, image, audio, video) and adapt to changing project requirements and timelines.
