KRA – Storyboard Artist / Matte Artist
Location: Malad (West), Mumbai
Experience: 2–5 years preferred
1. Storyboarding & Visual Storytelling
Translate scripts, concepts and creative briefs into clear visual storyboards.
Develop shot-by-shot visualisation covering composition, camera angles, transitions, movement and key visual moments.
Create storyboards for LED content, motion graphics, 3D films, immersive experiences and event films.
Establish visual continuity, pacing and narrative flow across sequences.
Create quick sketches and visual explorations during the conceptualisation stage.
Revise storyboards based on feedback from Creative Directors, Art Directors and clients.
2. Concept Development
Develop visual concepts, environments, locations and mood explorations for projects.
Create rough concepts, mood boards and visual references to communicate creative directions.
Explore different visual styles, compositions, colour palettes and treatments.
Convert abstract creative ideas into visually understandable concepts for the production team.
3. Matte Painting & Environment Creation
Create detailed digital matte paintings, backgrounds, environments and set extensions.
Build realistic or stylised environments based on the project's creative direction.
Combine photographic references, digital painting and generated/illustrated elements to create believable environments.
Ensure proper perspective, depth, lighting, colour and atmospheric treatment.
Create artwork that can be integrated into 3D scenes, motion graphics, compositing and LED content.
4. Pre-visualisation & Production Support
Work closely with 3D, Motion, Concept and Creative teams to translate 2D concepts into production-ready visuals.
Provide visual references and environment designs for 3D artists.
Support camera composition, framing and visual direction before production begins.
Identify visual or continuity issues at the pre-production stage.
Ensure artwork is technically suitable for the intended output format.
5. Creative Collaboration
Collaborate with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Concept Artists, 3D Artists and Motion Designers.
Participate in creative brainstorming and contribute visual ideas.
Understand creative briefs and translate them into practical visual solutions.
Take feedback positively and execute revisions within timelines.
Maintain consistency of visual style across an entire project.
6. Research & Reference Development
Research architectural, environmental, cultural, cinematic and photographic references.
Build reference libraries for locations, environments, lighting, textures and visual styles.
Use references intelligently while developing original artwork.
Stay updated with new visualisation, digital painting and AI-assisted creative workflows.
7. Quality & Delivery
Maintain high visual quality and attention to detail across all artwork.
Ensure correct resolution, aspect ratio, composition and file organisation.
Deliver assigned artwork within agreed production timelines.
Maintain editable and organised Photoshop/source files for downstream teams.
Manage multiple projects and revisions without compromising quality.
Skills Required
Strong drawing and visual storytelling skills.
Excellent understanding of perspective, composition, lighting, colour and depth.
Strong digital painting and environment-design skills.
Good understanding of camera language and cinematic framing.
Ability to visualise both realistic and stylised environments.
Strong understanding of how 2D artwork translates into 3D and motion content.
Ability to work in a fast-paced content-production environment.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Good eye for detail and visual consistency.
