About The Role
Red Carrot is seeking a Junior Graphic Designer to support a high-visibility federal communications contract. This remote position is contingent upon contract award and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful government projects. The successful candidate will support the External Affairs office by developing compelling visual communications that effectively convey the agency’s mission and initiatives. The role involves assisting senior staff in designing a variety of outreach materials, including posters, exhibits, publications, reports, and digital graphics. The Junior Graphic Designer will be instrumental in creating static and animated multimedia content optimized for both web and print, ensuring all deliverables meet accessibility standards and brand consistency. This position offers a unique chance to grow professionally within a dynamic environment, contributing to projects that serve the public good.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Art, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Media, Studio Arts, or a related field. A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in graphic design is required, with a proven track record of assisting senior staff in developing a diverse range of outreach materials. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, is essential. The candidate must have experience designing and developing presentations, templates, kiosks, speeches, and fact sheets, along with coordinating the production process of printed and interactive materials. Familiarity with accessibility standards, specifically Section 508 compliance, is necessary to ensure all graphics are accessible to all users. The ability to obtain the required government Fitness Determination is also a prerequisite. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
The Junior Graphic Designer will support the External Affairs team by assisting in the design and development of various visual communication materials. Specific responsibilities include:
Assisting senior staff in creating posters, exhibits, brochures, reports, photos, and other outreach materials that align with project goals and branding standards.
Designing and developing engaging presentations, partner templates, kiosks, speeches, and fact sheets to support communication efforts.
Creating static and digital graphics, animations, icons, and multimedia elements optimized for web and print distribution.
Refreshing or creating templates for standard products such as fact sheets, flyers, brochures, and reports to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Coordinating the production process for all printed and interactive deliverables, managing timelines, and ensuring quality control.
Ensuring all graphics and products adhere to accessibility standards, including Section 508 compliance.
Supporting brand consistency across all deliverables by adhering to style guides and branding guidelines.
The role requires proactive collaboration with senior team members, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote work environment.
